I don't know about you, but I remember going through a minimalist phase. As a 'type A' person, everything in my home had to be crisp, organised and neat.
White walls, neutral accessories, not much colour. I thought I was being 'cool' and 'edgy.'
But recently, I've been craving more. Perhaps you are craving something more, too?
If you’re nodding your head, you’re not alone. I see you, and I am you. As I’ve been navigating my own path of healing and reconnecting with myself through painting, I’ve realised that colourful wall art for women isn’t just about decorating! It’s about reclamation.
Welcome to the 'Great Colour Awakening'
For a long time, I stayed in the safe zone. Black, white, and muted tones felt 'mature' and 'sophisticated.'
But honestly? They were also a bit quiet. When I started picking up the brush to paint abstract florals, something shifted.
Moving from those safe neutrals to expressive brushstrokes and wild palettes felt like taking a deep breath after being underwater. It turns out, painting florals doesn't have to be delicate; it can be bold, messy, and unapologetically vibrant. Just like us.
Why abstract florals work
There’s a reason we’re gravitating toward joy-inspired home decor right now. Abstract florals aren’t meant to look like a perfect bouquet from a shop; they’re meant to evoke a feeling.
Pinks and Oranges: For that burst of happy energy when you need it.
Deep Blues and Greens: For that "exhale" moment at the end of a long day.
Expressive Layers: Because life is layered, and our homes should reflect that depth.
It's more than paint. It's healing.
I truly believe in the healing power of art. When you hang a piece that radiates joy, you’re setting an intention for your space. You’re saying, "This is a home where I'm allowed to feel good."
If you’ve been living in a world of safe neutrals, I’m giving you full permission to break the rules. Put that oversized, bright floral print right above your sofa. Let those colours remind you that it’s okay to take up space and be a little bold!
So, my friend, are you ready to ditch the dull and embrace the bloom? Your walls are waiting.
