Joyful Florals: A Mini-Series About Colour, Play, and Following What Feels Good
Every painting tells a story, and Joyful Florals tells one that’s deeply personal to me.
This small collection of abstract botanical artworks began as a creative experiment. I had been playing with a brand new painting technique, unsure of where it would lead. What started as a fun, pressure-free session turned into something much more meaningful: a freeing process that loosened my “handwriting” and allowed me to paint more expressively than ever before!
The brushstrokes started to feel alive. The florals began to bloom without me overthinking every detail. It was joyful, bold, and wonderfully unpolished.... and that’s what made it feel so honest.
Colour Without Fear
If you’re an artist, or even just someone who decorates their space, you’ve probably heard it before...
"Tone it down."
"Make it more neutral."
"Add a pop of colour, but keep the rest safe."
But with Joyful Florals, I gave myself permission to break the rules. I embraced the full intensity of bright pinks, deep magentas, golden yellows, and neon orange.
I didn’t dilute the palette to suit market trends or the expectations of “what sells.” I painted what felt good, and I let joy lead the way.
It was so liberating.

From Studio to Gallery
Another special moment from this journey? Three of the paintings from Joyful Florals were selected to be shown in a group exhibition!
It was my first time ever seeing my work hung in a gallery setting, and it was a proud and pivotal moment for me.
There’s something surreal about seeing your art lit up on white walls, surrounded by other artists, and feeling like you belong. That moment gave me confidence to keep going, even though I’m still in the early stages of my art-making journey.
This Is Just the Beginning
Joyful Florals reminded me that making art doesn’t need to be perfect or polished to be powerful. Sometimes it’s the mess, the colour, and the intuition that says the most.
I can’t wait to continue exploring this bold, bright path. And I hope these paintings bring as much joy to your home as they brought to my studio! Interested in collecting an original? Explore the collection below:
