Stop Making Yourself Smaller

Somewhere along the way, a lot of us women quietly learn to take up less space.

We wear darker colours because they feel "safer." We stop drawing attention to ourselves. We apologise for wanting beautiful things. We convince ourselves that bold is for younger women. As if joy has an expiry date.

I don't believe that anymore.

Getting older hasn't made me want to disappear. It's made me want to be seen. Not for validation. Just because I've finally realised I don't need permission to enjoy my own life.

I want the bright flowers. The colourful artwork. The floral prints. The red lipstick. The oversized earrings. The vibrant, slightly-too-much home.

For years I worried about what other people might think, and here's what I've discovered on the other side of that: most people are far too busy worrying about themselves to notice.

So why not wear the outfit? Why not hang the bold artwork? Why not buy yourself flowers on a completely random Friday, no reason needed?

The second half of life isn't about becoming invisible. It's about becoming yourself. Authentically and unapologetically.

Take up space. Wear the colour. Choose joy.

Because you're not too old.

You're finally becoming who you were always meant to be.

With love, Carolyn
